Our Commitment Does Not End With Your Discharge

continuum of care, after discharge, group friends support commitment

When you think about getting treatment for a substance use disorder, you probably think of two key components: detoxification and rehabilitation. Those first two portions of treatment programs are so well known, they go by nicknames—detox and rehab. You probably noticed that we just called them the “first two portions of treatment.” Maybe you are racking your brain trying to figure out what might come after those two. Detox gets you sober. Rehab teaches you skills and provides resources for staying sober. And then you go home, right? Well, yes, but that is not the whole story when it comes to our commitment.

At Bel Aire Recovery Center we are fully committed to the idea that treatment for a substance use disorder should not end at discharge from the facility. Instead, we offer a continuum of care designed to help you begin your recovery journey with confidence.

Let’s take a look at what that means.

Key Components of a Continuum of Care

Bel Aire Recovery Center is committed to personalized care because we understand that no two individuals have identical needs. And that means we offer a personalized approach to commitment and the care we provide after discharge. We might connect you to a range of services including:

As you leave Bel Aire Recovery Center, we will provide you with a detailed plan for ongoing care and resources in your home community. Working the plan is an important part of recovery as you build networks of support and accountability.

Keeping Your Connection to Bel Aire and Other Alumni

We will be part of that all-important network of support, staying in touch with you and providing assistance when you need it. Among our strategies for staying in touch is an online service called CaredFor.

CaredFor is a free app that works on most mobile devices. It is a secure, online platform that allows alumni of Bel Aire’s programs to connect and engage with one another in ways that are mutually supportive of ongoing sobriety.

The app also includes a personalized dashboard that tracks your sobriety time, connects you to articles and other resource materials, and provides ongoing support from Bel Aire and other recovery experts.

A Note About Relapses: We Will Be Here to Help

Though we wish we could say that people who go through detox and rehab and who are supported by a continuum of care never touch drugs or alcohol again, the truth is that relapses are quite common in the early days of recovery. But it is essential to remember that a relapse is not the end of your sobriety story. Your network of commitment and support—including Bel Aire Recovery Center—will be there to help you reset and start again. If you experience a relapse, we will be ready to help you restart your recovery journey without judgment.

Not As Catchy, But Just As Important

We know that “continuum of care” doesn’t roll off the tongue with the same snappiness as “detox” or “rehab.” Nevertheless, it is no less a part of a successful treatment plan than the two more famous stages that precede it.

A substance use disorder is a brain disease, and that disease can be treated but not cured. That is why no treatment plan that starts with detoxification and ends with rehabilitation is ever going to be sufficient. A continuum of care takes into account that there are no quick (and no permanent) fixes for addiction.

Start at the Beginning and Get Sober

This blog entry has focused on the third step of treatment—the continuum of care that follows discharge from residential treatment. But of course, you can’t get to the third step of commitment if you don’t take the first two. At Bel Aire Recovery Center, we offer medically supervised detoxification and a rehabilitation program built around individual and group therapy. We provide personalized care—including addressing any co-occurring mental health disorders that may be in play—that is grounded in evidence, expertise, and compassion.

If you are struggling with drugs or alcohol, the time to take your first steps on the road to recovery is right now. Our team in Kansas can get you started in the right direction, and we can help you keep moving toward the goal of long-lasting sobriety.
