IOP in Wichita, Kansas

Outpatient treatment for addiction recovery allows clients living with substance abuse disorders (SUDs) to receive support and counseling while they live at home and continue with their daily activities. This form of treatment is a good fit for clients with milder addiction issues or those who have already completed a more intensive level of addiction treatment, such as a residential program. Bel Aire Recovery Center, a residential and outpatient rehab in Kansas, offers flexible programs to fit our clients’ schedules.

Intensive Outpatient Program in Kansas

Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) are critical parts of substance abuse disorder treatment. They give clients structure but are also flexible. An IOP allows the participants to receive the intensive treatment they need while allowing them to continue attending to their daily responsibilities, such as work, school, or family commitments.

IOP Structure and Schedule

An IOP typically involves having the participants attend several sessions each week. Clients often attend their outpatient treatment three to five days weekly, each lasting several hours.

The exact schedule may vary based on the client’s needs and the specific program. This outpatient schedule provides the participants with a high level of care while allowing them to practice what they have learned in their daily lives without delay.

Types of Therapies Offered at Wichita IOP

Several therapeutic approaches are used in IOPs, such as:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a commonly used, evidence-based form of psychotherapy. It helps participants identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. It focuses on having participants learn how their negative thoughts are linked to their emotions and actions. Once clients know how to replace their negative thoughts with more positive ones, they will find their behaviors become more positive.

CBT is also used to challenge and change distorted thinking. Long-held negative beliefs can be changed and replaced with positive ones, and the client’s behaviors will change as a result of the therapy process.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. This form of therapy emphasizes balancing acceptance and change. It teaches participants skills in four critical areas:

        • distress tolerance
        • emotional regulation
        • interpersonal effectiveness
        • mindfulness

DBT helps the participants achieve emotional stability and improve their overall quality of life.

Family Therapy involves the client’s family members and allows them to address any family unit issues. Addiction doesn’t just impact the person living with an SUD. It also significantly affects family relationships by undermining trust and creating conflict.

In family therapy, our client’s loved ones can share the challenges of having a family member with a SUD. Family members can also discuss the issues they are facing and resolve them.

Family therapy aims to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships within the family by exploring family dynamics and behavior patterns. With the help of a trained therapist, family therapy sessions identify and address the family’s underlying causes of stress, misunderstandings, and emotional stress.

Family therapy fosters a supportive and collaborative environment to promote healing, mutual understanding, and healthier family functioning.

Group Therapy is a form of psychotherapy in which a few people meet regularly to talk about their experiences under the guidance of a trained therapist. This treatment approach offers all participants a supportive environment where they can share their challenges, gain insights, and learn from each other’s experiences.

Attending group therapy fosters a sense of community and belonging while reducing feelings of isolation. The group dynamic encourages open communication among its members, enhances social skills, and gives participants multiple perspectives on problem-solving and coping strategies.
