Bel Aire Recovery Center is pleased to offer outpatient addiction treatment to our valued clients in Oklahoma City. Outpatient treatment for addiction recovery is a practical option for clients who are living with a substance use disorder (SUD). They can continue living at home and continue their daily activities while getting the help and support they need.
Who Can Benefit from Outpatient Treatment?
For the treatment of SUDs, intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) is a necessary part of the continuum of care provided by Bel Aire Recovery Center. Clients who meet the following criteria would particularly benefit from this treatment model:
The Bel Aire IOP in Oklahoma City is flexible so that clients can continue to attend work or school while receiving the addiction treatment they need. The program allows clients to attend therapy sessions multiple times each week. The IOP includes:
Bel Aire’s IOP program gives clients guidance on healthy ways they can identify, avoid, and overcome triggers that will tempt them to use drugs or drink alcohol. Our program also addresses how clients can overcome negative thought patterns and increase their self-esteem by increasing self-compassion. Achieving long-term sobriety requires a strong support network from family and friends and embracing ongoing personal growth.
Our outpatient programs were developed to help clients recognize the obstacles that make their recovery more challenging and develop practical strategies for overcoming them. We also help our clients develop skills for healthy personal relationships and improve their decision-making processes.
The goal is to advance our client’s recovery through proven therapies for coping with life stresses, compulsiveness, anger, resentment, cravings, and other stressors. Our treatment team uses several protocols, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), family therapy, and group therapy, to help clients reach these goals.
Our IOP Treatment Methods
Our IOP treatment sessions are offered during the day and on weekends. Counselors use the following treatment methods to help our clients:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This therapy is based on the idea that once people change their thoughts, their behavior will improve. In CBT sessions, clients are encouraged to identify their negative thoughts and challenge their validity. If their negative thoughts are not valid or logical, the client learns to replace them with positive ones. Based on the new, positive thoughts, the client’s behavior changes, and they begin to act more positively in their relationships.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): This type of therapy blends CBT and mindfulness. Clients undergoing DBT understand that sometimes they must accept life circumstances and find ways to cope with them. Mindfulness is a helpful tactic when faced with a difficult situation that can’t be changed; learning to stay calm and focus on the moment is a great stress reliever.
Family Therapy: This type of therapy focuses squarely on family relationships. Family members can address their anger, hurt, and frustration over having a loved one with an SUD. Getting these conflicts out in the open can be addressed in a supportive environment.
Group Therapy: Clients learn they are not alone in their recovery journey by attending group therapy sessions. Other clients may share similar experiences or have advice to share. The sessions, which are led by an experienced addictions counselor, will give all participants food for thought as everyone shares their thoughts in a nonjudgmental, supportive environment.
